The Canadian Men`s Health Foundation has published guidance on the use of testosterone for treating hypogonadism in men (available here.)  The debate has in some ways paralleled the debate 15 years ago over HRT for menopausal women with both the benefits of treatment on wellbeing and the potential increase in relative risk of some diseases (such as prostate cancer) being highlighted by different interest groups. There is further controversy on the exact role of testosterone blood levels in reaching a diagnosis. Certainly some of the symptoms seen as part of this syndrome are in the realm of mental health.
