Tokyo Mental Health is delighted to announce that we will be joined in September by a new Clinical Psychologist, Rio Yamaguchi. Rio obtained her qualifications in Australia and has worked in private practices in both Sydney and Melbourne. Rio has a strong background in assessing children and adolescents for a wide range of psychological conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders (ADHD), Learning Disorders (LD) as well as giftedness. She also conducted neuropsychological assessment for adults in a private hospital whilst working in Sydney so has ample experience testing adults as well as children. Rio is passionate about working with children and adolescents and assisting them in overcoming their difficulties with the neurodevelopment problems described above or with other problems such as anxiety and depression. She is an advocate of using evidence-based therapy techniques and mainly utilises cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) as a framework when assisting clients. Rio is fluent in both English and Japanese. Rio is available Thursday and Friday mornings for appointments for counselling, therapy and psychological testing.
