Tokyo Mental Health is happy to announce that a new talk therapist has joined their staff. Eileen Nielsen is an experienced counselor, having received her Masters in counseling in the United States. Eileen has extensive experience counseling those with anxiety and depression, having recently worked with survivors of the 3-11 disaster in northern Japan, as well as those with those struggling with secondary post traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) across Japan via online video counseling.Eileen has maintained a private counseling practise for ten years, serving the English speaking community in Japan, assisting with a wide range of conditions including personal and family relational issues, social anxiety, occupational stresses, and tensions associated with cross-cultural living.Eileen has a passion for working with young people, most recently serving as a secondary school counselor in Tokyo. Eileen maintains a relaxed and welcoming approach to therapy, incorporating talk and art therapy to better assist with a wide variety of issues adolescents face, including identify & gender issues, depression, and self-harm.Eileen is a native English speaker with a conversational level in Japanese. She is available Monday and Tuesday afternoons and evenings, as well as mornings on Fridays.
